About this endpoint

GET /v2/instagram/media/{media}/comments/{commentId}/replies takes the post (a shortcode, a post or Reel URL, or a numeric media id) and the parent comment's id from GET /v2/instagram/media/{media}/comments; the comment id is digits only. Read data.lookupStatus first (found or not_found), then data.comments: each reply has id, text, createdAt, author, likeCount and replyCount. A reply has no replies of its own, so its replyCount is null.

When data.page.hasMore is true, pass data.page.nextCursor as cursor with the same media and commentId. A cursor works only for the thread that issued it. Each page is billed once, so read meta.creditsCharged. The parent's replyCount can exceed the replies you can list, because Instagram hides some. meta.version is v2.

Instagram comment replies API FAQ

How do I get the replies to an Instagram comment via API?

Call GET /v2/instagram/media/{media}/comments/{commentId}/replies with your Social Fetch API key (x-api-key), the post in media and the parent comment's id as commentId. Read data.lookupStatus, then data.comments, and keep following data.page.nextCursor while data.page.hasMore is true.

How much does the Instagram comment replies API cost?

Pricing is documented on the operation in the API registry (shown on this page). Confirm on every response with meta.creditsCharged — that field is the billing source of truth. Each paginated page is a separate billed request.

Where do I get a comment id?

From GET /v2/instagram/media/{media}/comments, where each comment's id is the id to pass as commentId. It is a number; anything else is a 400 bad_request and costs nothing.

What does not_found mean?

The comment doesn't exist on this post, or the post doesn't exist or is private. The response is a normal 200 with an empty comments list, billed as a page. A comment without replies is found with an empty list.

Why are there fewer replies than the comment's replyCount?

Instagram hides some replies, so a thread can list fewer than its replyCount says.

Can I use a cursor with another comment or post?

No. The cursor is tied to the post and comment that issued it, so pass back the exact value you received with the same media and commentId. Any other cursor is a 400 bad_request.
