Fandom API: common questions

Is there a Fandom API for wiki pages and comments?

Yes. Social Fetch has ten Fandom routes under /v1/fandom/wikis/{wiki}: the wiki, page, search, pages, category members, article comments, Discussions, a single Discussions thread, activity, and recent changes. Authenticate with your Social Fetch API key in x-api-key.

How do I name the wiki?

Use the subdomain: fortnite for fortnite.fandom.com, roblox for roblox.fandom.com, blox-fruits for blox-fruits.fandom.com. A full wiki URL or host is accepted and reduced to the subdomain. For a language edition such as fortnite.fandom.com/de, add lang=de.

Can I get a week of new comments and forum posts?

Yes. Call the activity route with since set to the start of the window and keep following page.nextCursor until page.hasMore is false. type narrows it to forum posts, article comments, or message-wall posts. Paging stops on its own once posts are older than since.

What does a page response include?

On found: title, display title, URL, the last editor and edit time, plain text with navigation and infoboxes stripped, wikitext (on by default), rendered HTML when includeHtml=true, infoboxes as label/value rows, sections, categories, links, templates, images, external links, and language links.

Does it work for Roblox game wikis?

Yes. Most Roblox game wikis are Fandom wikis, for example blox-fruits, adoptme, doors-game, tds, and growagarden. Pass the subdomain like any other wiki.

What if a wiki has comments or Discussions switched off?

The article-comments response sets commentsEnabled to false, and the Discussions response sets discussionsEnabled to false, both with empty lists. The wiki route reports which features are switched on.

How much does the Fandom API cost?

Every Fandom route charges a flat amount per completed request, shown on each endpoint page, and each page of a list is billed separately. Check meta.creditsCharged on every response. New accounts start with 100 free credits.

Does HTTP 200 mean the page or wiki exists?

No. HTTP 200 means the request finished. Check data.lookupStatus: not_found means the wiki, page, or thread doesn't exist.

Can I use the Fandom routes from agents or MCP?

Yes. Every Fandom route is a typed MCP tool and is reachable through Ask (POST /v1/ask) in plain English. Use the typed routes for production jobs.

The Fandom API in detailHow the Fandom routes work, what they cost, and how they differ from the official API.

Why teams use Social Fetch for Fandom

Social Fetch exposes ten routes under /v1/fandom/wikis/{wiki}, where {wiki} is the wiki's subdomain: fortnite for fortnite.fandom.com, blox-fruits for blox-fruits.fandom.com. A full wiki URL works too. Add lang=de (or any language code) for a language edition.

Content routes cover the wiki itself, one article (plain text, wikitext, optional HTML and structured infoboxes), keyword search, every page in title order, and category members. Community routes cover article comments with their replies, Discussions threads and single threads, an activity feed of every new post across forums, comments and message walls, and recent edits.

Every response uses the { data, meta } envelope with data.lookupStatus, so a wiki or page that doesn't exist comes back as a typed not_found instead of an error. Lists page with an opaque cursor (or a page number on search and comments), and the activity and Discussions lists take since so you can pull exactly one week.

How to call the Fandom API

  1. 1. Create an API key

Sign up at Social Fetch and copy a key (sfk_…). New accounts get 100 free credits, enough to try every Fandom route on a few wikis.

  2. 2. Pick the wiki and route

Use the wiki's subdomain, for example GET /v1/fandom/wikis/fortnite/page?title=Peely for one article or GET /v1/fandom/wikis/roblox/activity?since=2026-10-20T00:00:00Z for a week of posts. Send x-api-key on every request.

  3. 3. Page and branch

Check data.lookupStatus before you store a row, keep requesting with page.nextCursor while page.hasMore is true, and bill from meta.creditsCharged.

What each Fandom route returns

  • Any wiki by subdomain or URL, with language editions via lang.
  • Article text with navigation stripped, wikitext source, optional rendered HTML, and infoboxes as label/value rows.
  • Search, every page in title order, and category members for full-wiki crawls.
  • Article comments with every reply, Discussions threads, and single threads with paged replies.
  • An activity feed of every new post across forums, article comments, and message walls, with a since cut-off.
  • Recent edits, page creations, and log events for change tracking.

How much does the Fandom API cost?

Each Fandom route charges a flat credit amount per completed request, shown on every endpoint page. Each page of a list is its own request. Credits never expire on pay-as-you-go packs, and meta.creditsCharged on every response is the billing source of truth.

Social Fetch vs the official Fandom API

Fandom runs MediaWiki under the hood, and each wiki's api.php is built for editors and bots: raw wikitext, one wiki at a time, and comments and Discussions live in separate internal services with their own formats. Social Fetch gives you one consistent JSON shape across every wiki: article text without page furniture, infoboxes as rows, comment and forum posts as plain text with images, links and mentions pulled out, typed not_found responses, and cursors that hold steady while new posts arrive.
