About this endpoint

GET /v1/fandom/wikis/{wiki} resolves a wiki by subdomain and returns data.info: name, base URL, main page, logo, language, MediaWiki version and licence, plus stats (pages, articles, edits, images, active users, admins, Discussions threads and posts) and features (article comments, Discussions, structured infoboxes).

Use it first when you pull from a wiki you haven't seen before. It tells you whether comments and Discussions are on, and how busy the wiki is. Renamed wikis redirect, and data.wiki.id reports the subdomain that answered. An unknown wiki or language edition returns lookupStatus: not_found.

Fandom Wiki API FAQ

How do I name the wiki?

Use the subdomain: fortnite for fortnite.fandom.com, blox-fruits for blox-fruits.fandom.com. A full wiki URL also works. Add lang=de (or another code) for a language edition.

How many credits does a wiki lookup cost?

Pricing is documented on the operation in the API registry (shown on this page). Confirm on every response with meta.creditsCharged — that field is the billing source of truth.

What does lookupStatus mean?

found means the wiki was returned. not_found means the wiki or wiki doesn't exist. HTTP 200 only means the request finished, so always branch on lookupStatus.

How do I know if a wiki has Discussions or comments?

Read data.info.features: articleComments and discussions are booleans (discussions can be null if the check couldn't complete). data.info.stats.discussionThreads gives the thread count when Discussions is on.
