Instagram Hashtag Search API
Find the hashtags that match a keyword, ranked by Instagram, each with its id and post count, in the shared Social Fetch v2 envelope.
GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/search1 credit Failed requests are free
About this endpoint
GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/search takes a required query and returns the hashtags Instagram matches to it, in its ranking. Read data.hashtags: each entry is the same hashtag object every v2 hashtag endpoint uses, with id, name, mediaCount (public posts using the tag) and url. isTrending is always null here, because search doesn't report it; read a tag with GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/{hashtag} for that.
It is one page of up to about 55 matches for a common word, with no cursor and no data.page. A query nothing matches returns an empty data.hashtags list. Use it to discover campaign and topic tags, then page a tag's posts with GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/{hashtag}/media. Bill from meta.creditsCharged. meta.version is v2.
Instagram Hashtag Search API FAQ
How do I search Instagram hashtags via API?
Call GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/search?query=<keyword> with your Social Fetch API key (x-api-key). Read data.hashtags, a list of tags with their post counts. See the API docs for parameters and examples.
How much does the Instagram Hashtag Search API cost?
Pricing is documented on the operation in the API registry (shown on this page). Confirm on every response with meta.creditsCharged — that field is the billing source of truth.
Is the result paginated?
No. Instagram returns one ranked set per query, so there is no cursor and no data.page. A cursor parameter is a 400 bad_request. Refine the query to see different tags.
Can I search for a tag named exactly search?
Yes. GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/search is the search route. To read the hashtag #search itself, write it %23search: GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/%23search.
How is this different from searching posts by hashtag?
This route finds hashtags from a keyword and returns the tags, not posts. To read the posts under a tag use GET /v2/instagram/hashtags/{hashtag}/media.
Do I need Instagram OAuth to search hashtags?
No. You authenticate to Social Fetch with an API key. The route reads public hashtag data; it does not act on behalf of a logged-in Instagram user.
