Can the official Threads API read other people's posts?

Only in limited ways. Keyword search reaches public posts once Meta approves the threads_keyword_search permission; before that it only covers your own posts. Public profile lookup needs its own permission and, with standard access, only finds a few official Meta accounts. Social Fetch returns public profiles, profile posts and keyword search with one API key.
