# Snapchat Spotlight Comments API

Pass a Spotlight URL and page through top-level comments with text, timestamps, likes, reply counts, and the commenter display name.

`GET /v1/snapchat/spotlights/comments` takes a required `url` query param (a public Spotlight link) and an optional `cursor`. On `found`, read `data.comments`, `data.spotlight` (resolved id and canonical url), and `data.page`. Each comment has `id`, `text`, `createdAt`, `likeCount`, `replyCount`, and an `author` with `id` and `displayName`.

Snapchat does not expose commenter usernames, so there is no handle or profile URL on a comment. Pass `data.page.nextCursor` back as `cursor` until `hasMore` is false; the cursor can be long, so send it back unchanged. Each page is billed separately; `meta.creditsCharged` is the billing source of truth. Spotlight details are `GET /v1/snapchat/spotlights`.

## FAQ

### How do I list Snapchat Spotlight comments via API?

Call GET /v1/snapchat/spotlights/comments with your Social Fetch API key (x-api-key) and a public Spotlight url query param. Read data.comments and data.page, then pass data.page.nextCursor as cursor for the next page. See the API docs for parameters and examples.

### How much does the Snapchat Spotlight comments endpoint cost?

Pricing is documented on the operation in the API registry (shown on this page). Confirm on every response with meta.creditsCharged — that field is the billing source of truth. Each paginated page is a separate billed request.

### What fields are in each comment?

Each top-level comment has id, text, createdAt, likeCount, replyCount, and author (id, displayName). Snapchat does not return commenter handles or avatars.

### How does pagination work?

Each response has data.page.hasMore and data.page.nextCursor. While hasMore is true, pass nextCursor back as the cursor query param. Treat the cursor as opaque and send it unchanged — it can be over a thousand characters.

### Can I fetch replies to a comment?

Not yet. This route lists top-level comments. Each comment has replyCount so you can see which threads have replies.

### What does an empty comments list mean?

With lookupStatus found, an empty list means the Spotlight has no public comments or the id is unknown. Use GET /v1/snapchat/spotlights to confirm the Spotlight exists.
