# Facebook group API

Resolve a public Facebook group to identity, privacy and visibility, member counts, categories, administrators and moderators when Facebook exposes them, activity, and rules — in the shared Social Fetch envelope.

`GET /v1/facebook/groups` returns the public About-page profile for a Facebook group. Pass a full public group `url` (`facebook.com/groups/{id-or-slug}/…`, including `/about`) or a numeric `groupId`. Branch on `data.lookupStatus` before you read `data.group` — `found` or `not_found`. On `found`, the group object includes id, url, name, description, createdAt, historySummary, privacy and visibility labels, categories, memberCount, administratorCount, moderatorCount, administrators, moderators, activity, and rules when Facebook exposes them. Bill from `meta.creditsCharged`.

This route is the group profile only. For the group feed use `GET /v1/facebook/groups/posts`. For a Page or personal profile use `GET /v1/facebook/profiles`.

## FAQ

### How do I look up a Facebook group via API?

Call `GET /v1/facebook/groups` with your Social Fetch API key (`x-api-key`) and either a public group `url` or numeric `groupId`. Read `data.lookupStatus` and `data.group` in the JSON response. See the API docs for parameters and examples.

### How much does the Facebook group endpoint cost?

Pricing is documented on the operation in the API registry (shown on this page). Confirm on every response with meta.creditsCharged — that field is the billing source of truth.

### What identifier should I pass?

Pass a full public Facebook group URL such as `facebook.com/groups/{id-or-slug}/…`, or a numeric `groupId`. Profile and Page URLs belong on `GET /v1/facebook/profiles`. Wrong or unresolved groups often resolve as `lookupStatus: not_found`.

### Group profile vs group posts?

Use this route for the group's About-page profile (privacy, members, admins, rules). Use `GET /v1/facebook/groups/posts` to page the public group feed.

### Do I need Meta Graph API access or group admin rights?

No. Social Fetch returns publicly visible group About-page details for enrichment-style lookups. Private groups are not accessible.
