# TikAPI alternative: Social Fetch vs TikAPI

TikAPI sells monthly TikTok plans with a daily request cap, and it can act for TikTok accounts that log in through its OAuth: likes, comments, DMs, analytics. Social Fetch is read-only, bills per request with no daily cap, and adds transcripts, TikTok Shop and the Ad Library, with 24 other platforms on the same key.

## At a glance

| | Social Fetch | TikAPI |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it covers | 29 TikTok endpoints; 25 platforms and 264 endpoints in all on one key | TikTok only: 17 public-data endpoints and 46 for accounts that log in through its OAuth |
| Account actions | None: read-only public data | Like, comment, send DMs, run LIVE, read notifications and creator analytics for authorized accounts |
| Billing | Per completed request; packs never expire, monthly plans optional | Monthly subscription with a daily request cap and a bandwidth allowance |
| Entry price | 100 free credits (no card), then $14 for 1,000 credits | $29 a month for 300 requests a day, after a 5-day free trial |
| Burst capacity | Your credit balance; no daily cap | 300, 2,000 or 10,000 requests a day depending on plan; 429 once you hit it |
| TikTok extras | Transcripts, audience locations, engagement audit, TikTok Shop, Ad Library, webhooks | Liked posts, playlists, related posts; caption file links on video responses |

## Pricing (last verified 2026-09-24)

**What does TikTok data cost on each?** TikAPI is a subscription: Starter is $29 a month for 300 requests a day, Pro $79 for 2,000 a day, Business $189 for 10,000 a day, each with a bandwidth allowance. Social Fetch bills credits per completed request, 1 for most TikTok routes. The better deal depends on whether your volume is steady or bursty. At steady high volume TikAPI's Business plan is cheaper per request; for bursts and small volumes Social Fetch is.

| | Social Fetch | TikAPI | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Single profile lookup | ~$0.00165 | Included in the plan; about $0.0032 on Starter if you use every request | |
| 1,000 profile lookups, once | ~$1.64 at the Scale pack rate; $14 if you buy the Starter pack | $29 Starter month, spread over 4 days (300 a day), or $79 Pro to do it in one day | |
| 10,000 lookups in one day | ~$16.48 at the Scale pack rate | Business plan, $189 a month (10,000 requests a day) | |
| 75k profile lookups a month | ~$124 at the Scale pack rate | $189 Business (Pro's 2,000 a day tops out near 60,000 a month) | |
| 300k lookups a month, spread evenly | ~$494 at the Scale pack rate | $189 Business, if you use the full 10,000 every day | |
| Like, comment or DM as a TikTok account | Not available | Included; DMs and LIVE control need Business ($189) | |
| Free to start | 100 credits, no card | 5-day free trial on Starter, plus a sandbox server | |

TikAPI figures from the plans shown in [TikAPI's pricing section](https://tikapi.io/#pricing) (Starter $29/month, 300 requests a day, 500 MB bandwidth, 5-day trial; Pro $79, 2,000 a day, 2 GB; Business $189, 10,000 a day, 5 GB and Premium endpoints; extra bandwidth $12 to $15 per GB; quarterly and yearly billing discounted) and the [TikAPI documentation](https://tikapi.io/documentation) (v3.1.4: public vs authenticated endpoints, Premium endpoints limited to Business and Enterprise, 429 on daily request or bandwidth limits), all checked September 24, 2026. Per-request figures assume a 30-day month with every daily request used. Social Fetch figures use the Scale pack rate ($379 for 230,000 credits, about $1.64 per 1,000; September 2026) unless noted; Starter is $14 for 1,000, and plans run $29 for 18,000, $79 for 50,000 and $225 for 150,000 credits a month. ## TikAPI does two jobs; Social Fetch does one

TikAPI's documentation splits its endpoints in two. Public Data endpoints (17 of them) read any public profile, video, comment thread, hashtag, sound or search result without a TikTok login. Authenticated User endpoints (46) work on TikTok accounts that have authorized your app through TikAPI's OAuth: read the account's feed, notifications, saved posts and creator analytics, like and comment, send and read DMs, and start or stop a LIVE.

Social Fetch only does the first job. It never logs in as anyone and can't act on an account. If your product posts comments, manages DMs or shows creators their own analytics, TikAPI does something we don't, and you should weigh that first.

## Monthly plans with a daily cap

TikAPI plans are monthly subscriptions sized by requests per day: 300 on Starter ($29), 2,000 on Pro ($79) and 10,000 on Business ($189), each with a bandwidth allowance (500 MB, 2 GB and 5 GB). When you hit either limit the API returns 429 until it resets. Quarterly and yearly billing are discounted.

If your load is steady, that model is cheap: 10,000 requests every day for $189 a month works out to about $0.63 per 1,000, well under Social Fetch's Scale pack rate of about $1.64. If your load is bursty (a backfill, a campaign launch, a customer who uploads 5,000 handles at once), the daily cap decides which plan you need. On Social Fetch the only ceiling is your credit balance, and pack credits never expire.

## Public TikTok coverage, side by side

Both cover the core reads: profiles, a profile's videos, single videos, comments and replies, follower and following lists, search, hashtags and sounds. TikAPI adds a user's liked posts (where public), playlists and related posts. Social Fetch adds transcripts as text (`/v1/tiktok/videos/transcript`; TikAPI video responses include TikTok's caption file links when a video has them), audience location breakdown (`/v1/tiktok/profiles/{handle}/audience`, 30 credits), a one-call engagement audit (`/v1/tiktok/profiles/{handle}/engagement`, 5 credits), LIVE status, TikTok Shop products and reviews (`/v1/tiktok/shop/products`, `/v1/tiktok/products/reviews`) and the TikTok Ad Library (`/v1/tiktok/ad-library/ads/search`).

Most Social Fetch TikTok routes cost 1 credit. Full list on the [TikTok platform hub](https://www.socialfetch.dev/platforms/tiktok).

## When TikTok isn't the only platform

TikAPI is TikTok only. Influencer vetting usually needs Instagram and YouTube as well; trend tracking often wants X and Reddit. Social Fetch covers 25 platforms and 264 endpoints on one key, with the same `{ data, meta }` envelope and per-request credits everywhere.

[Monitors](https://www.socialfetch.dev/monitoring) watch a TikTok profile's videos or a search and send a signed webhook when something new appears, billed at the route's normal price. The same works for Instagram, X and Reddit. For a fuller picture of the market, see [best TikTok data APIs in 2026](https://www.socialfetch.dev/blog/best-tiktok-data-apis-2026).

## SDKs and moving public reads over

TikAPI publishes JavaScript/TypeScript and Python libraries and a sandbox server with a demo key. Social Fetch has an official TypeScript SDK, a public OpenAPI spec and a browser playground; Python users call the REST API directly or generate a client from the spec.

Public reads map one-to-one: a profile check becomes `GET /v1/tiktok/profiles/{handle}`, a user's posts become `/v1/tiktok/profiles/{handle}/videos`, and comment lists become `/v1/tiktok/videos/comments`. Field names differ, so plan a mapping pass. Keep TikAPI for anything that acts as an account.

## When TikAPI is the better choice

- Your product likes, comments, sends DMs or runs LIVE for TikTok accounts
- Creators log in and you show them their own analytics or notifications
- Your volume is steady and high: 10,000 requests a day for $189 a month
- You need a user's liked posts or playlists
- You want an official Python client

## When Social Fetch is the better choice

- You only read public TikTok data and never act as an account
- Your volume is bursty: no daily cap, and credits don't expire
- You need transcripts, audience locations, TikTok Shop or the Ad Library
- You want a webhook when a profile posts, without running the poller
- You need Instagram, YouTube, X or Reddit on the same key

## Verdict: Acting as TikTok accounts: TikAPI. Reading public TikTok (and more): Social Fetch.

TikAPI is the stronger choice when your app acts for TikTok accounts through OAuth, and its Business plan is cheaper per request if you use 10,000 requests every day. Social Fetch is read-only, bills per request with no daily cap, adds transcripts, Shop, the Ad Library and webhooks, and covers 24 other platforms on the same key. Bursty or multi-platform workloads usually cost less here; steady TikTok-only volume usually costs less there.

## FAQ

### What is TikAPI?

An unofficial TikTok API. Its public endpoints read profiles, videos, comments, hashtags and search without a TikTok login; its authenticated endpoints act on TikTok accounts that authorize your app through TikAPI's OAuth.

### How much does TikAPI cost?

Starter is $29 a month for 300 requests a day and 500 MB of bandwidth, with a 5-day free trial. Pro is $79 for 2,000 requests a day and 2 GB; Business is $189 for 10,000 a day and 5 GB, and unlocks Premium endpoints such as DMs. Quarterly and yearly billing are discounted.

### Is Social Fetch cheaper than TikAPI?

For small or bursty workloads, yes: 1,000 profile lookups cost $14 on our Starter pack, and 10,000 in one day cost about $16.48 at the Scale pack rate, against a $189 Business month on TikAPI. For steady high volume, no: using all 10,000 daily requests on TikAPI Business works out to about $0.63 per 1,000, against about $1.64 on our Scale pack.

### Can Social Fetch like, comment or send DMs on TikTok?

No. Social Fetch is read-only and never logs in as a TikTok account. For account actions you need TikAPI's authenticated endpoints or TikTok's own APIs.

### Does Social Fetch have a daily request limit?

No. Paid routes have no published per-day or per-minute cap; the ceiling is your credit balance. Credit packs never expire.

### Can I get TikTok transcripts?

Yes. `GET /v1/tiktok/videos/transcript` returns the transcript as text for 1 credit, with an optional AI fallback when no transcript is otherwise available (10 extra credits). TikAPI has no transcript endpoint, though its video responses include caption file links when TikTok has them.

### Does Social Fetch have a Python SDK?

Our official SDK is TypeScript. From Python, call the REST API with any HTTP client or generate a client from the public OpenAPI spec. TikAPI publishes an official Python library.
