# Social Fetch vs Ayrshare

Ayrshare lets your product publish, schedule, and moderate on behalf of connected social accounts — OAuth into the user's networks, then post. Social Fetch reads public social data without posting rights. One is a write/management API. The other is a read/enrichment API.

## Posting APIs and read APIs solve opposite problems

If your product's promise is "connect Instagram and we will publish for you," you need OAuth, token refresh, platform policy compliance, and a posting API. That is Ayrshare's lane — and Buffer-style competitors, Outstand, etc.

If your product's promise is "paste a TikTok URL and we score the creator," you need public read access without asking the creator to OAuth into your app. That is Social Fetch's lane.

Forcing either tool into the other job creates weird architecture: using Ayrshare analytics as a scrape substitute, or expecting Social Fetch to publish Reels.

## Why the invoices look nothing alike

Ayrshare grows with connected customers. When a tenant links accounts, you pay for that profile slot; when they churn and you delete the profile, billing drops. That matches SaaS COGS for publishing features.

Social Fetch grows with lookup volume. A viral launch day that resolves 50k public handles burns credits, not profile seats. Idle months cost nothing on PAYG packs you already bought.

Trying to compare "$149/mo" to "$1.64/1k" without naming the verb (post vs read) is how RFPs go wrong.

## Using both in one product

A creator marketplace might use Social Fetch during discovery (public metrics across 25 platforms) and Ayrshare after a brand wins the deal (schedule approved posts onto the creator's connected channels). Same user journey, two APIs, zero overlap in responsibility.

Analytics overlap exists at the edges — Ayrshare reports on accounts you manage; Social Fetch returns public metrics for accounts you only observe. Pick based on whether you have posting consent.

## Limits on each side

Social Fetch will not schedule posts, manage DMs, or hold user OAuth tokens for publishing. Ayrshare will not replace a broad public read catalog for accounts that never connect to you — and its analytics assume managed profiles.

If a vendor pitches "all-in-one social API" covering both write and deep public read at once, read the docs carefully. Most stack one strength and market the rest.

## When Ayrshare is the better choice

- Your SaaS must publish or schedule content on behalf of end users
- You need comments/DM moderation APIs tied to connected accounts
- Billing by active customer profiles matches your packaging
- OAuth-connected analytics for managed accounts are sufficient
- You are replacing a home-grown posting integration, not a scraper

## When Social Fetch is the better choice

- You need public social data without user OAuth
- Discovery, enrichment, monitoring, or agents read entities at volume
- Per-lookup credits beat per-profile monthly minimums for read-only workloads
- You want OpenAPI-documented read routes across many networks
- Posting is out of scope — you only need the data plane

## Verdict: Write path vs read path

Ayrshare is a posting and social management API priced on connected profiles. Social Fetch is a public read API priced on lookups. They barely compete. Use Ayrshare to publish as your users. Use Social Fetch to read public social data into your product. Many serious social products eventually need both.

## FAQ

### Can Social Fetch post to Instagram?

No. Social Fetch is read-oriented public data. For posting, use Ayrshare or another publishing API with proper user authorization.

### Can Ayrshare replace Social Fetch for profile enrichment?

Only for accounts your users have connected, and within Ayrshare's analytics scope. It is not a general-purpose public TikTok/Instagram read API for arbitrary handles.

### Why is Ayrshare more expensive per month?

You are paying for OAuth publishing infrastructure and platform compliance across networks, metered by profiles. Social Fetch's cheaper entry reflects a different product: prepaid read credits.

### Do we need both?

If you both discover creators from public data and later publish as them (with consent), yes. If you only do one of those jobs, buy one.

### Does Social Fetch store user social passwords?

No. We do not OAuth users' posting credentials for publishing workflows.

### What about Ayrshare historical content APIs?

Ayrshare exposes management and analytics for connected profiles, including historical content on higher plans. Social Fetch fetches live public data for entities you specify — different authorization boundary.
